Nokia 6230

The Nokia 6230 is a mobile phone based on the Nokia Series 40 platform. It was announced in the fourth quarter of 2003 and released in the first quarter of 2004.
It doesn't have built in music keys on the side but it is considered to be the 3rd largest sound Nokia phone.
It features a 16-bit TFT color screen with a resolution of 128×128 pixels, a VGA camera that can record video clips in H.263 (SubQCIF) format at 128×96 pixels at 15 fps, built-in Bluetooth wireless technology, FM radio (when a wired headset is attached to the Pop-Port interface to act as an antenna), and playback of .3gp video/audio at up to 30 fps and MP3, AAC and AMR audio. It uses an Extended Li-Ion Battery of 850 mAh. The 6230 accepts MMC memory cards up to 1GB in capacity (supported by later firmware releases) on which multimedia files and data can be stored. SD cards are not supported. It operates on either GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz (Nokia 6230 RH-12), or GSM 850/1800/1900 MHz (Nokia 6230b RH-28) for the North American market.
Cingular Wireless was the primary GSM carrier that offered the Nokia 6230b in the United States. Other companies such as Cincinnati Bell, Simmetry Communications, Viaero Wireless and Telcel also offered this model.
Nokia 6230 was nicknamed Matrix during development. The updated version 6230i was nicknamed Matrix 2.[citation needed]

Nokia 6210

The Nokia 6210 Navigator is a mobile phone made by Nokia that is a successor to Nokia 6110 Navigator. It has been available since July 2008.
The Nokia 6210 Navigator is the second GPS Phone in the Navigator series to be released by Nokia. The Nokia 6210 Navigator includes pre-loaded navigation maps with a free navigation license for 6 month.
Accelerometer:-
The 6210 Navigator includes a built-in accelerometer. This was originally only used for video stabilization and photo orientation (to keep landscape or portrait shots oriented as taken).
Nokia Research Center has allowed an application interface directly to the accelerometer, allowing software to use the data from it. Nokia has released an application to demonstrate this.
Third-party programs have been created, including software that will automatically change the screen orientation when the phone is tilted, programs that simulate the sounds of a Star Wars lightsaber when the phone is waved through the air, allow you to mute the phone by turning it face-down, and many more.
Technical specification:-
1.Symbian OS v9.3 with S60 Platform 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2

Updating software and maps:-
Users can determine the software version in the phone by pressing *#0000# on the keypad. There is a code e.g. 0123456 beneath the phone battery (switch phone off first before accessing) which needs to be recorded and entered on the Nokia website to enable Nokia to report the latest software version e.g. V.04.13. Using Nokia PC Suite and the data cable supplied to the phone, a software update can be performed from the PC after downloading the new version of the software. For phone plan users, the phone has to be turned off and on again after the update to restore the menu item for the sim card provider e.g. Vodafone, Telstra, Optus etc.
World maps can be purchased from Nokia through its website, though they are generally not the latest release from NAVTEQ/ROUTE66. These can be downloaded to the user's PC using Nokia Map Loader (requires Microsoft .NET Framework) or simply double clicking on the downloaded .SIS file with the phone connected to Nokia PC Suite by the data cable, and finishing the installation on the phone. The whole process takes approximately 15 minutes. The maps are installed to the data card and appear in the maps section as World Maps. Installing the maps does not affect the GPS Voice Navigation if this service is already being provided by the sim card provider. If the text, Street not Digitised Appears, the user can just zoom to current GPS location to enhance map magnification.
NAVTEQ's website provides users with a Map Reporter function where users can report missing streets, missing features, restriction, points of interest, errors in the spelling of street names for the Nokia 6210 Navigator. Users are encouraged to report variations in the interests of improving navigation.

Nokia 6131

The Nokia 6131/Nokia 6133 is a Nokia clamshell phone released in February 2006.
The model is part of the Base Band 5 series phones, which are more difficult to unlock compared to previous Nokia phones.
Features:-
Features include a 1.3 megapixel digital camera, support for up to a two-gigabyte microSD Card, 240x320 QVGA screen with 16.7 million colors and external 128x160 TFT screen with 262,144 colors. Software includes an XHTML compatible web browser, an email client and a media player (mp3, mp4 (audio only) & 3GP supported). There is also a small button located on the top right side of the phone, that when pushed, flips the phone open.
The phone is very customizable. Users can manage many of the phones features in the Nokia PC Suite. Themes may also be downloaded onto the phone, changing the menus, icons, colors, etc. Other customizable aspects of the Nokia 6126 include adding MP3 files to the phone, and using those files as ringtones, without the need of converting them to WMA format. There is also a setting used for the screen saver on the external screen of the phone that allows a slide show of images the user has taken with the phones camera.
This phone is known for its outstanding features, one in a million, however many get annoyed at the fact that unlocking is a pain even though it is free for anyone to unlock using the code 123456654321 and calling it. Many people that are running on mobile over internet, (VOIP) or WLAN have this problem.
Veriants:-

1.6126: North American version of the 6131 (released for AT&T and Fido_Solutions)

2.6131: has additional features of a FM receiver and IrDA connectivity

3.6131 NFC: includes Near Field Communication

Only signed J2ME apps are allowed access to the network stack, with no option to change it. (released for T-Mobile)
Bugs:-
There is was a problem with the sent mailbox in the text messaging system that not opening. The system says that the operation failed.
Mms bug:-
Both the 6126 and the 6133 have been known to have some problems with the sending of MMS messages. Typically, when trying to insert a picture in the message, the screen fades out with black bars, and then to a white screen and the phone returns to main screen (called as restart). No real explanation as to why this happens has surfaced. There are various ways of fixing this problem though. Doing a full reset of the phone and not messing with the MMS settings is one. Users have been able to send messages after this, although for some, the problem arises again. Unlocking the phone is the second option. This can usually be done by shipping phone off to an unlocking website or a service center and having the service performed for a fee.

Nokia 6120

The Nokia 6120 classic is a Nokia-produced Symbian OS smartphone (not to be confused with Nokia 6120, an obsolete mobile phone by Nokia). It is the first Nokia UMTS / HSDPA dual band mobile which also features quad band GSM.
Interface changes:-
The 6120 classic user interface lacks the typical 3D animated menu items as well as some (thought to be Nokia standard) software applications, such as for example the Stopwatch, however since it operates under Symbian, third party programs can be installed to regain those applications.
Nokia 6121 classic:-
Nokia 6121 classic is the first UMTS900 device on the market. It is available in five colours: Black, Blue, White, Gold and Pink. The 6120 classic and 6121 classic are identical, the only difference is that they have a different set of 3G frequencies.
Nokia 6124 classic:-
Nokia 6121 classic is the first UMTS900 device on the market. It is available in five colours: Black, Blue, White, Gold and Pink. The 6120 classic and 6121 classic are identical, the only difference is that they have a different set of 3G frequencies.
Nm 705i/706i:-
The NM705i is the NTT DoCoMo version of the 6120 classic. The phone lacks the ability to install native applications, and also lacks HSDPA and an email client. NM705i has i-mode software (i-mode browser, i-mode mail, i-appli) instead of MIDP applications, MMS, and the Nokia web browser. Available colors are Black, White, and Orange (NM705i original).
Later introduced NM706i carries a same exterior design as the 6124 classic and NM705i specifications. Available Black color is same as NM705i, but Red and Silver color is newly available instead of Orange and White.
Features:-
The 6120 classic has UMTS 850/2100 MHz with HSDPA while the American 6121 classic has UMTS 900/2100 MHz with HSDPA. Both models support quad band GSM. On a network supporting HSDPA 3 Mb/s download rate is possible on this phone. The NM705i has FOMA 800/850 MHz, 2 GHz connectivity.
All models feature a secondary front mounted camera for video phone calls. The resolution of the camera is only 320x240, since the video calls are only shown on other handsets screens. The front camera can also be used to take self portraits. The Regular camera is a 2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, but no autofocus.
Nokia has begun to move away from the traditional proprietary Pop-Port. The phone features a standard Mini USB connector which does not charge the battery. When a USB cable is connected, the phone asks what type of connection it should make, with the choice of media player, PC-suite or Data transfer. The data transfer mode allows the phone to function as a mass storage device making a card reader (to access the phone's microSD card) unnecessary.
The base of the phone also features a 4-part 2.5 mm socket for the supplied headset. When the supplied 4-part 2.5 mm headset is plugged in, it can function as an antennae for the stereo FM radio that also has support for Visual Radio.
It is possible to connect a 3-part 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adapter to use with standard headphones, however as normal headphones do not have a microphone, this feature may be best suited for media viewing/listening only. The audio player supports MP3, M4A, eAAC+ and WMA formats. iTunes protected audio is not compatible, however iTunes Plus music can be played on the phone.
The phone is capable of Video recording-QVGA with the resolution of 320x240 @15fps the front camera can also be used but only with a resolution of 176x144.
For video playback the phone has H.264/MPEG-4 AVC , H.263, RealVideo 7,8,9,10 support.
The phone has Java MIDP 2.0 support except for the NM705i which has the feature turned off due to the i-mode software.

Nokia 6030

The Nokia 6030 is a GSM dual band handset operating on frequencies 900 and 1800 MHz (850 and 1900 MHz in the North American model), with automatic switching between frequencies. It is small in size with dimensions of 104 x 44 x 18 mm and weighs 90 grams. It also has 3MB Shared Memory.

High-resolution color display with up to 65,536 colors (128 x 128 pixels) Multimedia messaging (MMS) GPRS and WAP 2.0 services Nokia Series 40 Theme compatibility FM radio (with supported Nokia headset) MIDI audio playback (up to 16 channels) Address book, calendar, and reminders Java ME compatibility Xpress-on covers The 6030 supports GPRS up to 40 kbit/s speed and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) 2.0 services. An XHTML browser is integrated, allowing for WAP web capability. The phone book can hold up to 300 entries and its calendar can hold up to 500 entries.
On the bottom panel of the Nokia 6030 is a 4-pin connector similar to a USB port, a bit smaller than normal 4-pin mini-USB connectors, but it is actually a FBus port, named the EZ Flash port, and the data cable for this port is not supplied for end-users. Only authorized Nokia support have the ability to make use of the port.[dubious – discuss] Please be aware that there is NO official data cable connection for 6030 end-user. Those so-called "CA-45" cables for sale are counterfeits or an attempt to copy a Nokia special EZ flash cable, CA-45DS.[citation needed] The official Nokia CA-45DS actually has a connector that fits into the headphone jack and the FBus port on one end, and the other end is a connection much like an Ethernet cable that hooks into the flash box.

Nokia 5800

The Nokia 5800 is a smartphone and portable entertainment device by Nokia.Code-named the "Tube," it is the first touchscreen-equipped S60 device by Nokia. It's part of the XpressMusic series of phones, which emphasizes music and multimedia playback. The touchscreen features tactile feedback (though it doesn't utilize Nokia's upcoming Haptikos technology.)
The 5800 has a compatibility mode for Java applications that are not touchscreen-aware. It works by using part of the screen for displaying the essential buttons required by the program.
On January 23rd 2009, Nokia announced it had shipped the millionth 5800 XpressMusic device, even though it still had not been fully released worldwide. In Nokia's Q1 report released on April 16th, 2009 it was announced they had shipped 2.6 million units during the quarter, with cumulative shipments of more than 3 million units since the smartphone's launch in late November 2008.Q2 results released July 16, 2009 reports 3.7 million units shipped during the quarter and more than 6.8 million units total have shipped since the release.
After firmware V20, the 5800 Xpress Music have got a higher CPU speed from 369MHz to 434MHz to match Nokia 5530 and N97 specification. However, huge improved overall performance can be observed at firmware V30.
History:-
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is not the first touchscreen device in Nokia's range. In 2004, the Nokia 7700 was announced, a Nokia Series 90 device that was cancelled before it reached the market. This was followed by the Nokia 7710 which was an upgraded version of the 7700, which became available during 2005. Nokia also produced the UIQ-based Nokia 6708 phone in 2005, but this was not an in-house development and was bought in from Taiwanese manufacturer BenQ. Nokia have also produced a range of Maemo-based Internet Tablets which have a touchscreen interface, however these are not mobile phones. The 5800 is, however, Nokia's first Symbian S60 touchscreen device. The 2007 launch of the rival Apple iPhone demonstrated that at the time, Nokia did not only not have any current touchscreen mobile phones, but since the cancellation of the Symbian Series 90 operating system, it also lacked any sort of suitable platform for developing such a device. Although Nokia asserted with some justification that the Nokia N95 was a comparable or better device, most other manufacturers responded with their own touchscreen devices.
The launch of the 5800 XpressMusic in October 2008 was followed-up with the announcement of the Nokia N97 in December 2008, followed by the Series 40 based Nokia 6208c in January 2009
In late February of 2009 the website Mobile-Review.com, which was initially very enthusiastic about the handset, published its research and concluded that the Nokia 5800 had a design flaw. Specifically, when phones were used on a daily basis, their earpieces, produced for Nokia under contract by a third party, would cease to function in very short time. Repairs performed under warranty would only temporarily fix the problem. The defect was found to be in the earpiece design. Nokia's public relations department had admitted that the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic contained a design defect. According to Nokia, they switched to another earpiece manufacturer, so all 5800's produced during February 2009 or later should be free from defect, with previously produced earpieces eligible for free warranty repair. New earpiece parts have also been supplied to Nokia service centers and future phone repairs should permanently fix the defect.
On April 17, 2009 DigiTimes reported that Nokia plans to release the Nokia 5800 with an induction display instead of a resistive one, which is used in the original model. According to Mobile-Review.com, the induction display is believed to be more fit for thumb operation when a stylus is not used. The upgraded model is expected to ship in May or June of 2009.[15] In mid-May 2009, DigiTimes has written that new induction sensor screen components for Nokia are about to be produced by Synaptics. On 24 April 2009, This rumor was put to rest by Nokia; "we’re not changing the hardware of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic" says Nokia
Navigation edition:-
On 21 August 2009 Nokia has announced a new variant named Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition. In addition to the normal Nokia 5800 it has the latest version of Ovi Maps preinstalled, loaded with a lifetime license of drive and walk navigation (which otherwise requires subscription on the non-navigation edition 5800). It also comes with car-charger and car-kit inside the box, and is slated for a Q3 2009 release.
Marketing:-
A prototype of this handset was seen in the 2008 Batman movie, The Dark Knight, Christina Aguilera's "Keeps Gettin' Better" as well as in "Womanizer" by Britney Spears. The handset was also seen in Flo Rida's "Right Round", The Pussycat Dolls' "Jai Ho!" and Hush Hush and Katy Perry's "Waking Up In Vegas" and Cobra Starship's Good Girls Gone Bad music videos. The phone has received generally positive reviews, with UK phone magazine Mobile Choice awarding it a full 5 stars in its Feb 8th issue.
Availability:-
Nokia announced the 5800 XpressMusic in London on October 2, 2008. The suggested retail price was €279 before taxes and network subsidies. The phone was made available Q4 2008 in Finland and other markets, specifically in Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine and United Arab Emirates. The phone missed the Christmas sales in more matured markets. Nokia has only commented that it needs time to customize the phone's software for operators in other markets. Analysts speculated the delay as a business manoeuvre not to butcher its existing product portfolio sales for Christmas as the phone is very competitively priced. The phone hit the rest of Europe in early 2009. An Asia-Pacific release date has yet to be announced. The European version was available for United States customers on December 14th[18], an North American version was released on February 26th and was briefly pulled soon after due to customers reporting 3G reception issues. It was put back on sale on March 14th after the firmware was updated to fix the issue[19]. It was released in Australia on the 20th of March 2009.
The phone made its worldwide debut in Hong Kong on November 29, 2008 for a retail price of HK$3988 by Nokia Hong Kong.[20] The final pricing of the Nokia 5800 caused outrage amongst Nokia fans on several Internet forums, as it was a 33% increase from the original estimated retail price of €279 (due to the fact that Hong Kong does not have VAT as of 2008, and that the mobile phone doesn't come with Nokia's Comes With Music Service since it hasn't been launched in Hong Kong yet). This however changed on a wider launch a couple days later, when it started going for US$350[21]. Nokia 5800 finally made its debut in Malaysia on Friday, 9th January 2009 after it was first announced in October 2008. The device retails for MYR 1499. Nokia threw a party at Pavilion to officiate the release. The phone is already available in India, released on 8th January 2009 by brand ambassador Priyanka Chopra for a retail price of (inclusive of all taxes + VAT) Rs. 19,999. Its available in the Philippines last January 10 for Php.19,990 (now 15,990). The official release date in Sweden is February 16. It's available in Vietnam as of January 5 for VND.6.700.000, about 385 USD, one of the lowest prices. The phone will be available in Thailand on February 28, 2009 for Thb. 13,520. The United Kingdom launch was January 23, 2009 and the price was £249.99.[22] The 5800 was announced by Nokia in South Africa during early February 2009. It had an initial price of R5,559.00, or approximately US$570 on the Vodacom network, according to their February 2009 brochure, making it one of the highest priced in the world.[citation needed] It was released in Bangladesh on the 27th of January. It is rumored to be released on Rogers Communications in Canada in June 2009.

Nokia 5700 XpressMusic

Nokia 5700 XpressMusic is a music series mobile phone by Nokia.
Overview:-
The Nokia 5700 XpressMusic is a Symbian S60 3rd Edition FP1 smartphone. It is being sold under the XpressMusic sub-brand, which emphasises music and multimedia playback. The Nokia 5700 XpressMusic is a monoblock twistable phone which weighs 115 g. It has a casing made of glossy white plastic, and a black or red matt plastic middle section. There is a rubber flap on the right hand side which covers a microSD hotswap card slot, USB port and charging jack.
The keypad is rather unusual, it can be twisted to four different positions, each allowing easier access to a specific function of the phone:
Keypad facing forward: This is the main mode of the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic, which works just like keypads on any other phone.
Playback controls facing forward: Twisting the keypad round to this position automatically activates the music player.
Camera facing away: This position automatically starts the camera application, and lets you photograph or video objects in front of you. If you are already using the phone's video player application, twisting to this position automatically changes the video to horizontal full screen mode, and it is possible to stand the 5700 on its side in this position so you can watch the video more easily.
Camera facing forward: this position also automatically starts the camera application, and is intended for self-portraits and for videophone calls. This position also lets you stand the phone horizontally on its side so you can talk to the video camera without having to hold the phone.

Nokia 5510

The Nokia 5510 is a type of 2G mobile phone released in 2001. Aside from its music playing abilities (detailed below), many aspects of the phone are similar or identical to its predecessor, the Nokia 3310. It has a 64 megabyte memory for storing .lse audio files. The Nokia 5510 features a full QWERTY keyboard and an 84 x 48 monochrome display. Its successor is the Nokia 3300.
Features:-
The 5510 shared many of the features of the Nokia 3310, such as a built-in calculator, stopwatch and a reminder function. It also includes the same 5 games that came with the Nokia 3310: Snake II, Space Impact, Bumper, Bantumi, and Pairs II. However, the 5510 also had the ability to play digital music files transferred onto its 64MB internal flash memory via USB (encoded in either MP3 or AAC format); as well as being able to receive FM radio.
Design:-
The 5510 is unusual compared to most mobile phones, as it has a has an almost complete QWERTY keyboard, rather than the conventional telephone keypad. This keyboard is divided on the left and right sides of the front panel, with the 84 x 48 monochrome display at the center, and the navigational buttons below it (the display and navigational buttons are almost identical to those found on the 3310). The 5510 lacks the predictive text ability that other phones in its family (such as the 3310) had. Also, 4 black buttons are located on the side of the phone to allow quick access to the music player, FM radio, and the volume controls.
Music:-The 5510 can play both MP3 and AAC music files once they are converted and transferred by the Nokia PC suite, as well as record audio directly from its internal FM radio, or through its built-in 2.5 mm (3/32")audio jack. Any songs recorded by the phone are encoded in the same format used with music transferred to the phone. The music player on the phone also has a built-in equalizer with several pre-sets to fine-tune the music being played.
Software:-
The Nokia Audio Manager software downloads music from the computer to the phone. There are also some alternative software that allows users to transfer music, such as Nokia Audio Loader (Russian),Another Audio Manager and Nokryptia for Linux.
Note:-
The internal part of the 5510 has a cellphone unit inside which resembles that of the Nokia 3310.
The removable backplate on the handset was designed in such a way that pressure on the middle of the plastic could easily cause the plate to crack, This was highlighted in many reviews of the model at the time of release.

Nokia 3510

The Nokia 3510 is an entry-level mobile phone for the GSM network, introduced by Nokia in 2002. The phone was the first Nokia phone to bring GPRS internet services to the mass market. An enhanced version, Nokia 3510i, introduced the same year, was one of the first phones with a color display. The phone has a Nokia Series 30 96 x 65 color user interface. Unlike its predecessor, the Nokia 3410, the 3510 has the multi-button user interface of the classic Nokia 2110.
GPRS is used for data transmission and mobile Internet WAP service. Users can download Java applications (not supported by 3510, only by 3510i), background images and polyphonic ringtones. The phone supports SMS and MMS messaging. The 3510i is of the DCT4 hardware generation.
Variants:-The European / Asian versions, the Nokia 3510i and the Nokia 3530, which operate on GSM 900/1800, and features a more conventional keypad.
The Nokia 3590 was a version of the 3510 for the North American market. It operates on GSM-1900 and GSM-850 networks. The phone was at one time available through the former AT&T GoPhone prepaid mobile phone service.
The Nokia 3595 operates on North American GSM-1900 and GSM-850 networks. Prior to the release of the 3595, the Nokia 3560 was released, with a more standard arrangement of the keypad, and operating on TDMA and AMPS for roaming. IS-136. The 3560 was released in the Spring of 2003 and was sold through early 2004 when TDMA accounts were no longer being activated. The 3560 came with more preloaded content than the 3595 since the phone was primarily designed for prepaid TDMA customers. The 3595 contains less preloaded content but enables users to download new content using GPRS, or MMS. The 3595 is often though of as the GSM equivalent to the TDMA 3560, although it is actually an upgrade to the Nokia 3590 handset. The 3595 and 3590 faceplate and keypad buttons are interchangeable.
The Nokia 3595 includes an IM client for AOL Instant Messenger and ICQ in the latest firmware revisions.
A newer version of the 3595 is the Nokia 6010, which improves on the keypad and gives the phone a more business-oriented look. The 6010 also has corrected all of the software bugs that were previously found in the 3595 handset. The 6010 was discontinued by all major GSM carriers except T-Mobile in 2006. T-Mobile will likely discontinue the 6010 by the end of 2006 or early 2007, although the handset is still popular amongst consumers who desire a user-friendly handset without expensive features.

Nokia 3220

The Nokia 3220 is a GSM, Nokia Series 40 mobile phone. The Nokia 3220 was the first entry-level phone that offered full access to the Internet, with an XHTML browser and POP3/IMAP email client. The tri-band camera phone uses GPRS and EDGE for its internet connections.
The phone can be seen as an upgrade of the Nokia 3200. Like the 3200, custom rear face plates can be created by the user. A stencil is available in the pack. While features such as infrared and a built-in FM radio are removed, new features such as rhythmic flashing lights (two on each side), wave messaging, voice dialing, themes, and a video recorder are added. With the addition of an optional face plate, when the phone is waved back and forth rapidly, a light message of text is produced in mid-air. An FM radio can be added on with the use of the phone's Pop-Port. The 3220 features a 16-bit (65,536) color screen, which is an improvement over the 3200's 12-bit (4096) color screen. The phone also has more internal memory than the 3200. The CIF camera is also upgraded to 0.3 megapixelsVGA (640x480 resolution, for photos), and features video recording (128x96) capability.
The phone has a built-in browser which seems to be very slow (in data processing) to many. It can download files of any format but cannot open SIS, SVG, WAV, MP3, MP4 etc. files. It downloads many files which are Copyright Protected. These files cannot be sent via MMS. This phone supports MMS under 100 kilobytes. The java games or applications must be under 120 kb or the phone cannot run them. It has a memory shortage and often causes java applications to stop for the sake of "Out of Memory" problem.
The phone can record audio of 5 minutes at each clip. It is possible to record audio while talking to contacts. One can configure one's own Service, Access point, Email or Sync system. The phone has a Wallet. Anyone can preserve their Username, Password, Credit/Debit card number and personal notes by Password protection.
The phone has 5 Java games. Applications like Opera Mini, mig33 etc. can be downloaded and used.
Supported formats: Image: JPG, JPEG, BMP, WBMP, PNG, GIF. Sound: MID, AMR. Java: JAR, JAD.

Nokia 3210

The Nokia 3210 was a highly popular cellular phone, first launched in 1999. A combination of cutting-edge features such as internal antennas and T9 (predictive text) ensured the 3210 huge commercial success (approximately 160 million units) especially across Western Europe and North America. The 3210 can also attribute much of its success to an advertising campaign which was aimed predominantly at young people, a first in the mobile phone industry. The inclusion of 3 games, changeable covers, internal antenna, customisable ringtones and competitive prices led to the handset's huge popularity with those aged 15-25.

The inclusion of 3 games, changeable covers, internal antenna, customisable ringtones and competitive prices led to the handset's huge popularity with those aged 15-25.
Notable features:-
3 Games came preinstalled: Snake, Memory (pairs-memory game), and Rotation. The addition of such games encouraged high sales within a youth market which was enlarging at a very fast rate. Some versions of the 3210 included "hidden" games, React and Logic. They were activated by special software using data cable. The 3210 was one of the first mobile phones to feature an internal antenna. This distinguished the handset from others which featured large, awkward and unsightly antenna. Reception, although poorer than that of its predecessor, the 3110, was still very good. 'Picture messages' sent via the SMS texting service, were implemented in the handset, allowing users to send preinstalled pictures to one another. These included a 'Happy Birthday' picture amongst others. The handset was competitively priced and aimed particularly at teenagers and young professionals. This was at a time when few young people had access to a mobile phone, which was generally identified with older professionals and business people. The 3210 was the first to allow users to compose their own ringtone, a substantial benefit as previously customized ringtones could only be sent via SMS and at a charge. The 3210 was originally designed with a vibrate alert function. Nokia decided not to implement this feature on some handsets within certain jurisdictions. A few months after its UK release, some mobile phone repair shops offered customers a handset upgrade to the vibrate function for a small fee.

Nokia 3200

The Nokia 3200 is a mobile phone, part of the Nokia Expression (youth) series. It is based on the Nokia Series 40 platform. Its main feature set is a mix between the Nokia 3100 and Nokia 7250i. Like the Nokia 7250i, the phone has an integrated CIF camera. Other features include an XHTML browser, alarm clock, flashlight, and FM stereo radio with a 128x128 12-bit (4096) color screen. The phone has multimedia features such as picture and text messaging. Features carried over from the Nokia 3100 include ringer profiles and voice memo capability. It also has Java games (max downloadable size of game or application cannot exceed 64 kb). The phone has an extensive calendar with a lunar calendar (for the Chinese/Asian variants). The flashlight is located under the phone and can be activated by holding the "star" (asterisk) key. The camera is on the back of the phone. The 3200 can also play both polyphonic and monophonic ringtones. An interesting feature present in this phone is that the face plate system allows users to print out their own faceplate designs and use it in the phone. The phone's visual interface in its menu system is similar to that of the Nokia 3100, using large, static icons rather than animated ones.
While the phone's feature set was an improvement over the Nokia 3100, the 3200 did not quite enjoy the popularity that the 3100 did; some known complaints with the phone included its low CIF resolution camera, quirky keypad design, and its small 12-bit color display.
The Nokia 3220 addresses some of the 3200's flaws, including a better VGA resolution camera, more standard keypad layout, and 16-bit color display.
Cultural References:-
The Nokia 3200 was featured in the 2005 and 2006 series of the British TV programme Doctor Who, as the phone carried by the Ninth & Tenth Doctors' assistant Rose Tyler. The Ninth Doctor modified the phone in the second episode of the first series, "The End of the World", enabling her to make calls through time. It can also receive signals where ordinary mobiles cannot, such as the steel-shielded Cabinet Room in "World War Three". The Doctor also called Rose from his TARDIS; and fittingly, his caller display icon was a miniature picture of a police box. It was later replaced by a Samsung D500. The phone also appeared in Australian TV series H2O: Just Add Water where it is owned by Cleo Sertori.
In the 2004 video game, DRIV3R, there are several in game advertisements for the Nokia 3200 and the phone is clearly shown in one of the beginning cutscenes.

Nokia 3310

The Nokia 3310 is a dual band GSM900/1800 mobile phone. Released in the fourth quarter of 2000, it replaced the massively popular Nokia 3210. This phone sold extremely well, being one of the most successful phones with 126 million pieces sold.[1] Several variants of the 3310 have been released, including the Nokia 3315, 3320, 3330, 3350, 3360, 3390 and 3395.
Design:-
The 3310 is a compact but somewhat heavy (133 g) phone featuring an 84 x 48 monochrome display. It has a lighter 115g battery variant which has fewer features; for example the 133g battery version has the start-up image of two hands touching while the 115g version doesn't. It is a slightly rounded rectangular unit that is typically held in the palm of a hand, with the buttons operated with the thumb. The blue button is the main button for selecting options, with "C" button as a "back" or "undo" button. Up and down buttons are used for navigation purposes. The on/off/profile button is a stiff black button located on the top of the phone. It has a very sturdy design which was a big contribution for its success. However, radiation is high with SAR = 0.96W/kg.
Features:-
The 3310 is known for having many features built in. These include many utilities, such as a calculator, Nokia network monitor, stop watch and a reminder function. It has four games, 'Snake II', 'Pairs II', 'Space Impact', and 'Bantumi'. It was popular for SMS because it allowed long messages three times the size of a standard SMS. The phone also has voice dialing for the quick dialling of selected numbers.
Customization:-The Nokia 3310 can be customized with interchangeable covers, and thousands of different designs have been produced by various companies. It also has over 35 ringtones built in with space for seven custom tones. These can either be downloaded, or can be composed by the user using the tone composer. The phone has different "profiles" which can adjust the phone to different sets of preferences. For example, there is silent mode where the phone will not ring when inappropriate to do so. Screensavers can be made from received picture messages. It has the option to set a reminder message that displays when it is turned on.
